Broadview Wind

Curry County, New Mexico, and Deaf Smith County, Texas

Spanning the New Mexico–Texas border, Broadview Wind creates substantial economic benefits for the local area as it exports its power across the West to where it is needed.

  • Landowners in New Mexico and Texas understood the value wind energy development could have for the area and created a community-supported project to attract private investment.

  • Electricity produced by the facility, which reached operations in 2017, is equal to the electricity needs of more than 300,000 Americans and sold to Southern California Edison under two 20-year power purchase agreements.

  • Broadview Wind expects to generate more than $30 million over the first 25 years of operations in tax payments to the local counties and school districts.

Broadview Wind’s Community Benefits Program has involved donations to the Broadview Firehouse, Bootleg Volunteer Fire Department, Village of Grady, and Grady Municipal School District. The facility continues to give back through community sponsorships and donations.

We place great importance on being an active part of the local communities where we have a presence.

Please let us know if your group would like a presentation or if you have suggestions for community sponsorships and local causes we can support.

The 324 MW Broadview Wind facility uses 141 Siemens Gamesa 2.3 MW wind turbines with turbine blades from Iowa and nacelles from Kansas.

Construction entailed approximately 650 workers on-site during peak activity in 2016 and more than $100 million in locally sourced construction expenditures. With the help of local contractors, eighteen on-site personnel operate and maintain the Broadview Wind and Grady Wind facilities.
