On August 7th, the Curry County and Clovis Chamber of Commerce hosted a Back to School Bash at the Clovis Civic Center, and Pattern Energy was pleased to serve as the lead sponsor.
The Back to School Bash is an annual event, and one that local families appreciate very much. The doors opened at Noon, but people were lined up outside an hour before the event began.
When families and their students entered, everyone received a silver Pattern Energy tote bag with all kinds of school supplies: Pencils, pens, an eraser, notebooks, paper, markers, colored pencils, and more! Over 3,000 bags were prepared for the big event, and the leftover supplies were donated to the United Way so that nothing went to waste.
If the only thing happening was kids getting school supplies, it might make for a short day but there was a lot more for everyone.
Vendors from Clovis participated, and local businesses had booths set up. Everyone was in a festive mood, and then there were the prizes!
Walmart donated four bicycles to be raffled off, and there was a laptop as well. Everyone that came to the Back to School Bash got a raffle ticket but you had to be present to win. There was some early excitement as the winners were drawn but their ticket holders had already gone home.
In the end, there were some smiling faces and excitement as all four bicycles and the laptop were awarded as prizes to some lucky students.
As everyone visited with vendors, chatted with friends, and enjoyed themselves, I noticed a few people with dogs. Then there were more dogs, and soon the whole place had tails wagging and smiling faces as people of all ages prepared themselves for the Pet Parade.
I can assure everyone that the Pet Parade was a blast, and there were many good boys and good girls on their best behavior as their humans walked them around the special parade area.
While we would have loved to have featured every pet owner and their stories, there were quite a few so we hope you’ll enjoy this highlight video!
At the end of the day, everyone had a terrific time, and there were smiles everywhere you looked.
The Event Coordinator for the Chamber, Kim Tipton, never stopped moving all day. With an inexhaustible supply of good-natured energy, she made sure everyone got a raffle ticket and that things ran smoothly. (Even with a herd of dogs!)
The Chamber is already looking forward to next year and there was talk of a bigger, more exciting event.
It was a great day, and we will look forward to seeing everyone next year!
