KidWind and Sponsor Pattern Energy to Host 2022 REcharge Academy

July 20, 2022

Educators to travel to New Mexico and learn how to bring renewable energy content and activities into classrooms

The KidWind Project, an international leader in clean energy education, will be hosting the 2022 REcharge Academy from July 18-21, 2022. This flagship educator PD program on renewable energy is being held in partnership with the Santa Fe Community College in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

“After two summers of holding these events virtually, we are excited to bring together more than 50 educators from New Mexico and 15 additional states to explore renewable energy through hands-on lessons and expert lectures,” said Michael Arquin, founder of KidWind. “This year’s program will give them the opportunity to learn more about how power generation is changing in the United States and around the globe.”

Now in its 16th year, this latest iteration of the REcharge Academy will focus on wind energy, as well as explore the power grid, storage, solar, nuclear energy and other subjects. Educators can anticipate spending days learning about the politics, technologies and economics of renewable energy coupled with a range of engaging activities to use with students around energy concepts.

Also, during the academy, teachers will learn about the energy program at Santa Fe Community College and other New Mexico-based initiatives. Additionally, teachers will participate in a walking tour of the city, Los Alamos, to learn about the history and future of nuclear energy.

Many of this year’s attendees will be able to attend through funding from KidWind’s partners. These scholarships were made possible through generous contributions from Pattern EnergyNRELGeneracOrsted, and Invenergy.
